Big D 56ers
Bringing Collectors Together for 35 Years!

Visitors are always welcome
The Big D 56ers was founded in 1990 and has a proud heritage as one of the first three Department 56 clubs in the country, the first in Texas, and the first club to join the National Council of 56 Clubs.

Club Traditions

Meetings

Regular meetings date back to the founding of the club. Some are business, some social. Programs have been informational or entertaining and many are how to demonstrations or make and takes. Over the years meetings have been in community rooms, restaurants, and homes.

Newsletter

Since the start of the Big D 56ers the newsletter, The Village Tribune, has been an important source of information and ideas. The phrase "Building a Family Tradition" has been a part of the newsletter masthead from the beginning. Published several times a year, it chronicles the official business of the club with meeting minutes as well as information about Department 56, display ideas, and many photos of members' displays.

Ronald McDonald House

For 30 years club members have gone to the Ronald McDonald House prior to Christmas to set up a North Pole display for the enjoyment of the children and their families.

Holiday Home Tours

Another annual tradition has been the tour of homes. Sometimes Halloween, always Christmas, it is a time to see the holiday decorations of members as well as to socialize.
